Newtown Art Gallery Showcasing Work of Two Artists from Ukraine, Georgia

The Newtown art gallery is showcasing the artwork of two artists until Sept. 1.

A popular art gallery in Newtown is showcasing the work of two artists from the countries of Ukraine and Georgia. Staff writers at the Bucks County Herald wrote about the recent exhibition.

Alexander Serebryany and Parnaos Surabischwili, from Ukraine and Georgia, respectively, are having their art shown at Countryside Gallery & Customer Frame Design in Newtown. Several paintings by the two Eastert European artists will be on display at the Newtown shop from now until Sept. 1.

Surabischwili, who studied at the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts in his home country, spoke about his artistic philosophy.

“I don’t think the truthful and masterful copying of an image onto the canvas fits my definition of art,” said Surabischwili. “It only becomes art when there’s an original and innovative approach present, which transforms mere ‘transcription’ into artistic transfiguration.”

Serebryany, a native of Odessa, combines modern artistc expression with grotesque realism to create a unique style all his own.

“I’m creating permanent images of impermanent objects at their most impermanent moments,” Serebryany said.
