Bucks County Biotech Leader Gregory Krug Honored With 2025 ICON Award

Co-founder of Lampire Biological Laboratories in Doylestown, Gregory Krug, has been recognized with the prestigious 2025 ICON Honors Award.

Gregory Krug, co-founder of Lampire Biological Laboratories in Doylestown, has been recognized with the prestigious 2025 ICON Honors Award, writes Walt Frank for Altoona Mirror.

Presented to business leaders aged 60 and older, the award recognizes exceptional leadership, professional accomplishment, and significant impact in the greater Lehigh Valley region.

The 72-year-old Krug has played a key role in growing Lampire into an internationally recognized biotechnology partner along with a team of over 200 professionals in Bucks, Bedford, and Lehigh counties.

Today, the company ranks among the top biotech firms, providing essential biological reagents for both the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries.

A seasoned award winner, Krug was named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Exporter of the Year for his district and region in 2006.

He also secured Pennsylvania Business Central’s 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year and was recognized among its Top 100 People in 2005, 2006, and 2008. In addition, he was a finalist for the 2006 Forbes Enterprise Awards.

He added that he has no plans to retire at this time.

“I have a great staff and it is great staying busy,” he said. “The people out here are like family to me.”
