Capital Health Plans for Middletown Site Shift Again, Now Facing New Review

Six years after acquiring the medical building at the Oxford Valley Mall complex in Middletown, Capital Health has yet to put the facility to use, and no hospital is planned.

Six years after Capital Health acquired the medical building at the Oxford Valley Mall complex in Middletown, the facility remains unused, with no specialty hospital planned, writes Kai Lincke for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The former home of Barix Clinics of Pennsylvania was originally set to be renamed Capital Health Oxford Valley and was expected to open by the end of 2019, but those plans never materialized.

In March 2022, Capital Health officials said they would work with Anchor Health Properties to remodel and expand the building into a multi-specialty surgical center by early 2024. However, the land development application was withdrawn before construction started.

Capital Health has not released new plans for the site, and according to spokesperson Kate Stier, the facility is not being considered for primary or specialty care services.

“For a space like this, where we are considering other services, we look for other things including broader accessibility and ease of access so it can serve as a hub for the patients being seen at our practice locations and complemented by our hospital just across the way in Pennington, NJ,” she said.
