Capital Health is revisiting its plans for the former Forest Health Medical Center in Langhorne it acquired for $12.73 million in 2019, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The inpatient specialty hospital has been sitting empty since the clinic there shuttered following the acquisition.
“We are back in the development stage for that property,” said Chief Strategy Officer Suzanne Borgos. “Healthcare patterns have changed even after the pandemic. We’ve been watching the ever-evolving demand patterns and we’re re-forecasting the business plan we would have had five years ago.”
The New Jersey health system originally envisioned the property as a micro-hospital. It planned on expanding the site with a 19,000-square-foot second-floor addition, adding a small number of inpatient beds, along with an urgent care center. However, the pandemic put those plans on hold.
But with Capital Health now having a much larger footprint in Bucks County, the health center is reconsidering the future of the Langhorne site – keeping all options open.
“Everything is on the drawing board right now,” said Borgos. “We’re looking at a mix of everything from inpatient to ambulatory care.”
