Philadelphia Region to Gain Over a Dozen New Indoor Pickleball Facilities This Year, Including One in Newtown

Greater Philadelphia will see over a dozen new pickleball clubs in 2025, including the first local franchised location of Picklr in Newtown.

Greater Philadelphia is set to welcome over a dozen new pickleball clubs this year, including one in Bucks County, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Utah-based Picklr will open its first franchised location in the region in Newtown next month.

“The local community here loves pickleball and we believe this is an ideal location for our flagship club,” said Bobby Nelson, co-owner of the Newtown Picklr.

The indoor pickleball complex, which cost the ownership group $1.2 million to construct, will have a soft opening on February 3 before its official grand opening on February 8.

The new facility in Newtown Shopping Center spans 30,000 square feet, and occupies the former Bed Bath & Beyond space. It will have 11 courts, a pro shop, and locker rooms with showers.

The facility will reduce noise with special wall materials and feature camera systems for each court for disputed line calls or training.

In addition to Nelson, the Newtown Picklr ownership group is led by John Williams and Tom Bock, president of the Philadelphia-based Ernest Bock & Sons.
