In an extraordinary display of athletic prowess, Central Bucks West quarterback Cooper Taylor led his team to a 28-27 overtime victory against Garnet Valley in the Class 6A District 1 quarterfinals, writes Aaron Carter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Despite the absence of several starters due to injuries, the undefeated Bucks (12-0) witnessed Taylor’s exceptional performance.
Taylor rushed for 186 yards, scored four touchdowns, intercepted a pass, made two critical tackles, and even blocked a vital extra-point attempt in overtime before securing the win with a game-winning touchdown.
According to CB West coach Rob Rowan, Taylor embodied a “refuse-to-lose mentality” that propelled the team to success.
This victory held added significance as it avenged the previous seasons’ losses and set the stage for a semifinal clash with Central Bucks South.
Apart from his quarterback duties, Taylor also plays as a defensive back and is a crucial part of the field-goal team.
His evolution into a confident leader and skilled athlete has not gone unnoticed, with Coach Rowan lauding him as a standout individual in the program.
Looking ahead, Taylor is set to join Division III Washington and Lee as a linebacker next year.
