The event honored two local veterans.

Meredith Buck, the Bucks County Coroner, announced that two more of the county’s unclaimed decedents have been identified as being United States veterans, according to a staff report from The Reporter.

“The community is invited to join the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery to honor men who served our country and have them properly laid to rest”, Buck said in a statement.

The ceremony was held in Newtown on Thursday.

The veterans interred during the service were Ralph Burbage and Stephen Suckey. Burbage, from Middletown Township, served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class during the Vietnam War era. He died on April 22, 2022. Stephen Suckey, from Falls Township, served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist 4 also during the Vietnam War. He passed on June 13, 2018.

During the ceremony, their names were read out and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team presented the flag on behalf of the veterans. They were then honored with a rifle salute and live Taps.

After the ceremony, each of the veterans was placed in his own niche in the columbarium.
