Bucks County-Based Dessert Startup Looks to Raise $500,000 to Expand Operations

A Bucks County dessert startup is looking to raise money in order to become the next big name in the sweets industry. Lisa Dukart wrote about he startup for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Toni Lorraine Johnson, the founder and owner of Dr. Brownies, is looking to raise $500,000 in order to expand her already-existing business operations. Her main goal is to grow her startup into the Toll House Cookies of brownies.

Johnson’s recipes are all vegan-friendly and made to be a healthier version on the common sweets while never compromising on flavor. The company is looking to make their way into major retailers like Whole Foods and Sprout’s, while Johnson is also eyeing her products making their way into catering operations and universities for students.

Of her selections, Johnson;s company offers products like mini brownie bites, brownie and cake jars, cookies by the dozen, brownie pops, and cakes, to name a few.

Thus far, the startup has received about $27,000 in grants from several major donors.
