The shopping mall will close after two years of business in a popular area.

A shopping mall in the Bucks County area has recently announced their upcoming closure after only two years of local business. Michele Haddon wrote about the upcoming closure in the Bucks County Courier Times.

The Merchantile, an artisan shopping mall located within the Doylestown Shopping Center, recently announced their upcoming closure, which is set to be on Jan. 22. Having opened in the fall of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic took a large financial toll on the majority of the shops in the center.

“After long consideration we have come to the decision that our time of service to this incredible community will soon be coming to an end,” the owners of the mall said in a statement. “When we created this temporary project, it was born out of a need to help artists, makers, crafters, and small businesses most severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The mall has acted as a hub of artisan merchants selling their wears. Photographers, clothing designers, jewelry makers, and painters were just some of the artistic business owners among their sellers.
