Marvin Frederick has been supplying Quakertown residents with Dutch staple foods for years.

A longtime butcher in the Quakertown area is looking to hang up his smock soon, and he is looking for the next person to take his place. James McGinnis wrote about the change of hands for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Marvin Frederick, owner of Frederick’s Family Meats in the Quakertown Farmer’s Market, is looking to retire soon. With his plans set, he is looking for someone to take over his family business.

“This is hard work, long hours,” said Frederick. “You’ve got to be someone who isn’t afraid to work.”

Frederick said he will give one month of training to the new business owners. With his health not being what it was in his younger years, he is hoping someone will continue the legacy of his shop, a mainstay in Quakertown.

According to a property listing of the business, the new owner will also need $850,000 for upkeep and repairs to function normally.

Whomever takes over the shop will continue a long tradition of Dutch-style meats and other food items which the Frederick family has become known for selling.
