Art Outdoors: Newtown and Yardley Boroughs to Be Captured on Canvas

Wandering artists will spend the next few weeks painting picturesque scenes of Newtown and Yardley. Their plein air creations will be viewable by the public as they’re captured on canvas, writes Jeff Warner for Bucks Local News.
The open-air events, titled “Our Towns through Artists’ Eyes,” features 55 local and regional painters. They will tap their creativity by interpreting Bucks County in watercolors, pastels and oils.
Artists of Yardley (AOY), with various partners, organized the exhibition.
“Come on out and watch the artists at work,” said AOY spokesperson Bette Sovinee. “We have some wonderful and talented artists taking part, including many of our own members. People are going to enjoy watching them work. It’s going to be wonderful — and certainly a curiosity.”
The Yardley-Newtown setting, according to Sovinee, came about because “…they have so many cute and adorable vistas. And both are in our own backyard.”
After painting for two weeks, the artists will submit their two-favorite works for inclusion in a show. First-prize nets an artist $500.
A public exhibit showcasing the best work follows.
