New P.J. Whelihan’s Replacing Newtown’s Iron Hill Clears Final Hurdle

P.J. Whelihan’s is scheduled to open in Newtown this spring, after receiving final approval from the township’s board of supervisors.

P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant is scheduled to open in Newtown this spring, after receiving final approval from the township’s board of supervisors last week, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The supervisors unanimously approved conditional use for the popular eatery, which will occupy the closed Iron Hill Brewery at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center and will take over its liquor license.

“We are very excited to be coming to Newtown,” said David Chojnowski, vice president of development with the PJW Restaurant Group. “If you look at our locations on a map, Bucks County is a big hole. We have been looking to come here for quite some time and Newtown was the bullseye.”

He added that many patrons, managers, and employees of the restaurant group are Bucks County residents and are thrilled about the Newtown expansion.

Work on the new eatery’s space is expected to start soon. P.J. Whelihan’s is known for its wings and a lineup of ten sauces, ranging from mild to hot with scorpion and flamin’ pickleback.

“We also have burgers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees — more of your American fare,” said Chojnowski.
