PJW Restaurant Group, the Haddon Township-based operator of P.J. Whelihan’s, has officially taken over the former Iron Hill Brewery location in Newtown, writes Erin McCarthy for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The company has signed a lease for the nearly 8,000-square-foot space at the Village at Newtown, according to Brian Finnegan, the CEO of Brixmor Property Group, which owns the shopping center.
A federal judge approved the move in January as part of Iron Hill Brewery’s bankruptcy proceedings.
The Newtown location opened in 2020 following a redevelopment of the South Eagle Road complex by Brixmor. The project added several new buildings, allowing for the arrival of new shops and restaurants, including Iron Hill.
McCaffrey’s Food Markets serves as the anchor of the 30-acre complex.
In Newtown, “we’ve got Free People and Lululemon and Ulta that we added to the shopping center,” said Finnegan. “We’ve got a lot of strong service tenants. We also have Capital Grille and Harvest, so some great food and beverage options.”
Soon, that list will also include P.J. Whelihan’s, he added.
With 25 locations, P.J. Whelihan’s remains the most recognizable restaurant in the PJW’s portfolio.
