Coatesville basketball star Colton Hiller plans to stay a hometown hero as he continues to improve his basketball game, writes Joseph Santoliquito for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Currently ranked as the No. 3 player in the nation for the class of 2028, the Coatesville Area High School sophomore has received offers from major prep schools and national teams. But despite nationwide options, Hiller remains dedicated to his Coatesville roots, and plans to return for his junior year.
Hiller leaves his sophomore year having averaged 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. His scoring record and six-foot-seven stature make him a well-known challenge for nearby teams and a point of pride for his coaches—including a likening to Lower Merion basketball legend Kobe Bryant by Hall of Fame coach Gregg Downer.
While Coatesville may have recently been eliminated from the PIAA Class 6A playoffs following a loss to Chambersburg, Hiller still saw a career-best 39 points scored in a matchup against Bishop Shanahan this season, in addition to more than 20 scholarship offers.
Hiller has a full summer schedule on the horizon. He will travel to Los Angeles this summer to visit Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the talent agency managing his business and commercial opportunities. He’ll also play for the 17-under PSA Cardinals of the Bronx, New York.
While his future promises opportunities all over the country, Hiller will stay in Coatesville with his family for now. His brother Max is one of the nation’s top junior high school football players, and the duo plans to strength train together this summer to further up each other’s game.
