Based in West Chester, the Netflix comedy series Tires is set to receive $6 million from the Pennsylvania Film Office to produce its third season in the Philadelphia region, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Funding comes through Pennsylvania’s Film Production Tax Credit Program, which provides a 25 to 30 percent tax credit to productions that allocate at least 60 percent of their total budget to work done within the state.
Tires is projected to bring over $24 million in direct spending to the region, creating an estimated 1,709 jobs and generating 1,200 hotel room nights.
The series features Shane Gillis as a character who shares his name, alongside his cousin Will, portrayed by Steve Gerben, as they try to revive their family’s struggling business. The bulk of filming has been taking place in West Chester.
“Netflix’s return to the region, and its continued investment in Pennsylvania, highlights everything our area has to offer – from diverse locations and skilled crews to the strength of the PA Film Tax Credit program,” said Erin Wagner and Nicole Shiner, co-directors of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office.
