Filmmaker Gary Chilutti created Films-4-Good in Media Borough so he could make purposeful documentaries.
That’s because he discovered his passion for filmmaking while doing social work, writes Tamala Edwards and Steph Walton for 6abc.
“My first career was in community-based development, helping disadvantaged communities to create and implement comprehensive solutions to revitalize,” says Chilutti.
His message was most effective through videos he created, and he discovered he had “an affinity for it.”
Chilutti founded Films-4-Good in 2010.
He hopes his films “inform, involve, and inspire people to become engaged in their communities and take action, and find meaning.”
He’s spent the last few years working on the documentary “The Journey Home,” which follows veterans as they confront, deal with, and hopefully heal from the trauma they experienced while in the military.
Its purpose is “to prevent military suicide, to save lives,” Chilutti said.
An upcoming film now in pre-production will look into Chilutti’s personal life and adoption story.
Chilutti hopes his documentaries make an impact, connecting people and building community.
“There’s so much in the world to be done. The good news is there’s something for everybody to do,” he said.
