Former Russell Gardens Property in Churchville Slated for Housing Development

Churchville's former Russell Gardens Center will be converted into a development housing 18 new houses after getting approval.

The former Russell Gardens Center in Churchville will be home to eighteen new houses after the board of supervisors granted preliminary-final approval for the project last month, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

Single-family homes will be built on a 14.5-acre lot along New Road. The center, which was founded by Alfred Russell, closed in 2025 after more than 50 years in operation when its owners announced their retirement.

“The entire site of Russell Gardens is planned to be redeveloped as part of this project,” said Supervisor Barry Moore.

A new interior road, Founders Court, will serve the homes and connect directly to New Road.

The board advised the planning commission to approve the project with conditions and authorized relief via the zoning hearing board.

The plan calls for a new sidewalk along New Road that will connect to the township’s existing trail system and link the development to Maureen Welsh Elementary School and Northampton Township’s Municipal Park.

“I personally recommend this development,” said Moore. “This will be a very good addition to the town. These are going to be lovely houses that will be built here.”
