Local resident Megan Lewis recently uncovered a surprise connection with her elementary school pen pal nearly thirty years later, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6abc Action News.
When visiting family for Thanksgiving, Lewis went through old letters and documents from her elementary school years. After reading her pen pal letters from the 1994-1995 school year, Lewis completed a Google search to recognize her then-pen pal Suzanne Pugh as “Dr. P,” the OB/GYN that delivered both of her children.
Dr. Pugh was a junior at West Chester East High School when the duo first corresponded. She would go on to work at Axia Women’s Health, a department within Main Line Health, where she now works delivering babies at Paoli Hospital.
After Megan reached out, both were excited to reconnect. The letters indicate that Lewis did visit Pugh’s high school at the time, thirty years before the duo would reunite.
Dr. Pugh shared that after years of training and relocation, reconnecting with her family’s hometown of West Chester has been a rewarding era of her career, including the surprise reconnection with Lewis after three decades apart.
