Despite Losing Home to Fire, Local Santa Claus Brought Holiday Cheer to Families

Thanks to community support, Scott Diethorne was able to reprise his role as Santa Scott for a visit to Fairless Hills Garden Center.

Despite a tragic fire that destroyed his home, Scott Diethorne, also known as “Santa Scott” to the Fairless Hills community, kept the Christmas magic alive this year, reports Amanda Pitts for 6abc

On Oct. 25, the Diethornes’ residence caught fire, destroying everything and resulting in the loss of their two dogs and parrot.

When word of the fire spread, people from Bucks County and beyond showed their support for his family, donating clothes, food, and more than $139,000 in donations.

Diethorne said the support they received was overwhelming.

“I don’t think I deserved it all, but, you know, if it wasn’t for them guys, I’d be further in the hole than I am,” he said.

Among the donated items were six new Santa suits, which Diethorne was able to use for his visit to the Fairless Hills Garden Center.

Families from around the area gathered at the center to get their holiday pictures.

Diethorne said that the kindness of the community and the joy his visits bring to children have made his family’s challenges easier to endure.

“Blocks out all the bad stuff, you know, keep me going. Seeing the smiles on their face is all I care about,” he said.
