Enjoy the holidays in Newtown this weekend as the borough celebrates with festive events for the whole family to enjoy, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
The town’s annual tree lighting will take place Friday, Dec. 5, at the Newtown Fire Association from 7 to 8:30 PM. Families can get free photos with Santa from 5 to 7 PM before he helps light the tree.
The 62nd Newtown Holiday Open House Tour, hosted by the Newtown Historic Association, is taking place from 10 AM to 4 PM on Dec. 6.
Guests can enjoy self-guided tours of five homes and six buildings, including Newtown Borough Hall, Paxson Hall, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and more.
The tour is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Tickets are available online at the NHA, or can be purchased at the Half-Moon Inn on the day of the tour. Photographs and high-heeled shoes are not permitted in the homes.
The Newtown Presbyterian Church is hosting its Chili Luncheon on Dec. 6 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Tickets are available at the door for $15 for adults and $5 for children.
On Dec. 6, St. Luke’s Church will be hosting a Christmas Charity Bazaar from 10 AM to 3 PM featuring food, raffle baskets, and more.
The celebration ends on Dec. 7 with the annual Newtown Holiday Parade beginning at 12:30 PM at Sycamore Street and Washington Avenue. See live performances, floats, holiday characters, and Santa himself.
