Local winery Va La Vineyards is bringing delicious French and Italian wines to Avondale, writes Paul Vigna for Penn Live.
Recently featured in Wine Enthusiast, the family-run farm produces a range of dry, small-batch table wines. The entire production process takes place on site with the property’s seven acres of grapes.
Owner Anthony Vietri takes great care when assessing the health of the grapes each year to make the best possible wines. Vietri shared that he analyzes the health of the vines throughout the year, and each winter he decides which varietals will be planted in the spring.
Right now, the team is preparing the soil for winter and pruning the on-site fruit trees, which include figs and persimmons.
Va La Vineyards also includes a seating area perfect for small group tastings in the property’s century-old barn. The tasting menu includes local cheeses and chocolates that are also available to purchase.
Famed pianist and recording artist Glenn E. Williams also performs at the property each week. A celebrated music teacher and owner of Avondale Music Company, Williams has been performing at the winery for twenty years, and his students now also hold a concert at the winery each summer.
