The long-term renovation of Bishop Estate Vineyard & Winery in Perkasie (the approvals alone took three years) have been completed. It has now shed all vestiges of its former use as a dairy farm and is wholly dedicated to wine. Paul Vigna covered the transformation for Lancaster Farming.
Revamping the 100-year-old family property in Hilltown Township was the brainchild of owners Kevin and Cindy Bishop.
The 32-acre of pastures made way for vineyards. And the former barn now 32-acre site now features a large deck for enjoying both a glass of wine and accompanying music performances.
The decision to renovate was a family affair, as was the labor that resulted from it.
“We had three carpenters working on it: my husband, my son. and my nephew, who worked for someone else at the time. He came to help us out during COVID, and we since have hired him full time to make a lot of changes to the property.”
Kevin’s onsite history includes two hours of farm work before heading off to school as a boy. The dairy business was retired in 1998, and now, 20 years later, he’s back to farming, this time with grapes.
