Phoenixville mother and son Jenessa Broderick and Weston Hammacher recently got to thank the kind strangers who saved Weston’s life, writes Cheyenne Corin for 6abc.

Fifteen-year-old Weston suffered a surprise seizure during a car ride with his mother last Saturday. Jenessa quickly pulled over on Phoenixville‘s Bridge Street and yelled for help.

Three bystanders immediately sprang to action. Phoenixville nurse Lauren McGlaughlin and retired firefighter Jonathan Mount both heard Broderick and rushed over to help.

McGlaughlin and her fiancé were walking their dog across the street when they heard the commotion. Mount was in downtown Phoenixville with his wife and soon joined to offer more support.

McGlaughlin described immediately going into “nurse mode” to help. She began by checking Weston’s pulse and moving him to a safer position in the car. Mount also held Weston’s head up from the backseat to help him breathe easier.

Nearby, another local resident also called 911 to ensure more help was on the way.

Weston was released from the hospital later that day. Jenessa then made an online post to attempt to reconnect with the unknown strangers who saved her son.

Eventually, McGlaughlin and Mount reached out, and the four reunited later in the week.

Weston and Jenessa both expressed their gratitude towards the kind bystanders who helped support them, and both McGlaughlin and Mount shared that it was rewarding to see Weston recovering well after the emergency.
