A second pot-bellied pig seen wandering in Nockamixon State Park has been rescued by the Bucks County SPCA, reports Trish Hartman for 6abc.
The two-year-old, 88-pound pig named Lewis was spotted near the fishing pier in the park. He was lured over with food and is currently being cared for in the SPCA’s Quakertown shelter.
“They called us. We had caught a pig there in July. So they were able to catch this one,” said Cindy Kelly at the Bucks County SPCA.
In July, another pig named Howie was discovered in the park and rescued by the SPCA. He’s currently being treated for a skin infection after being found in rough condition.
A dog crate was found in the woods not far from where Lewis was rescued, leading officials to believe that both pigs were abandoned.
“We’re asking if anyone recognizes these particular pigs or has any knowledge of how they got to the park, we would love to know about it,” said Kelly.
The SPCA hopes to find good homes for both Howie and Lewis when they’re placed up for adoption in the fall.
Two other pigs, named Ozzy and Dudley, currently living in the Quakertown shelter, are also looking for forever homes. They have been at the shelter for the past year following an animal cruelty case.
