Perkasie artist Keith Bowman is finding a clever new way to showcase his work, writes Caroline Craig for the Bucks County Beacon.
Bowman is a graphic designer, creative director, screen printer and illustrator who’s hoping to create a micro art gallery on his front lawn.
He’s currently raising funds through Kickstarter to build the miniature gallery, which is modeled after the popular mini public bookcases on neighborhood lawns across the country.
The mini gallery will resemble a traditional art exhibition, with nine miniature versions of his original pieces displayed inside.
“The world today can be loud, fast, and filled with anxiety, but a small amount of art right where you don’t expect it can change the pace of a whole day,” he said on his Kickstarter.
In the early 2000s, Bowman hosted solo exhibits in Philadelphia. But more recently, he was inspired by Chicago artist John Airo, who created a similar miniature sidewalk gallery.
Each piece featured in Bowman’s gallery will include a QR code, allowing visitors to scan and purchase the full-sized version online.
He hopes the project will make art more accessible and approachable, giving locals a chance to engage with his work simply by walking past it.
