Amazon Fresh Sets Mid-August Date for Long-Awaited Northern Liberties Store

The new Northern Liberties store, which has been long-delayed since it was announced in 2019, is set to finally open on August 14.

Amazon Fresh, which announced plans to open a new Northern Liberties location nearly five years ago, has finally set a date for its new store, writes Michael Tanenbaum for PhillyVoice.

The new store at the corner of 6th and Spring Garden streets is set to celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, August 14.

This will mark Philadelphia’s first Amazon Fresh store.

There are several locations throughout the state in Willow Grove, Warrington, Broomall, Bensalem, and Langhorne.

Amazon has upgraded its former “Just Walk Out” feature, allowing customers to pay for their groceries without stopping at a register.

Now, new Dash Carts are letting shoppers scan their tems as they go and subsequently keep a running receipt that then gets charged to their Amazon accounts.

The new Amazon Fresh will be Northern Liberties’ third large supermarket, joining Acme at 2nd Street and Girard Avenue, and the recently-opened Sprouts Farmers Market on Christopher Columbus Boulevard. It’s also close to New Spring Garden Supermarket on the corner of 4th Street.
