Woods Services Receives Green Light for Apartments in Middletown

Woods Services to build attainable apartments on its Middletown campus.

Woods Services has received the green light from the township board of supervisors to build attainable apartments on its Middletown campus, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The organization provides people with disabilities with services, programs and long-term housing. It will build Meadowbrook, a four-story complex with 42 affordable apartments, on four acres of its property off Route 213.

The apartments will range from one to three bedrooms. Although they haven’t set rent levels yet, developers estimate a one-bedroom unit for two people could cost around $1,000 per month.

The organization will set aside nine units for individuals with great needs.

“These are people with traumatic brain injury or intellectual disability,” said Michael J. Meginniss, the land development lawyer representing Woods.

The rest of the units will be open to the general public. A background check will be required, which will be conducted by a third-party consultant. The complex will not admit felons or individuals with a violent criminal history.

While the project has received unanimous approval from the township board of supervisors, some residents have expressed concerns about who will occupy the apartments and potential traffic issues, given Meadowbrook’s 65 parking spaces.
