One Bucks County town is among the top ten wealthiest in Pennsylvania, where over half of the households make more than $200,000 annually, writes Chris Ullery for the Bucks County Courier Times.
According to 2023 five-year estimates from the American Community Survey, the most recent available, just over 53 percent of households in Upper Makefield earn above that threshold, making it the sixth-wealthiest in the state. The median income in this Bucks County municipality ranges from $191,510 to $292,390.
While Upper Makefield is the only local municipality to make the state’s top ten, eight Bucks County towns rank among the top 50 in Pennsylvania for the percentage of households earning over $200,000.
Among the wealthiest municipalities in the county, Buckingham ranks second, with 47 percent of households sitting above that threshold, followed by Solebury at 43.3 percent and Lower Makefield at 41.8 percent.
New Hope rounds out the top five with 41.2 percent. Doylestown ranks sixth at 38.1 percent, Newtown seventh at 37.1 percent and Wrightstown eighth at 36.7 percent.
Warwick and Bedminster complete the county’s top ten with 35.6 percent and 35.2 percent, respectively.
