Everyone agrees the once-thriving Neshaminy Mall is in desperate need of some updates, writes Dino Ciliberti in the Patch.
The 1 million square foot mall was a popular attraction in Bensalem Township, with people traveling from everywhere to shop.
When Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo noted the mall needed a transformation, many locals were quick to offer suggestions for potential stores.
Among the suggestions were an outdoor shooting range, a Waffle House, the popular Southern convenience store Buc-ee’s, Hobby Lobby and Urgent Care.
Many commented that a blend of housing and retail would be ideal, similar to Oxford Valley Mall’s new setup. Others said more housing would only crowd the already densely packed area.
Another individual proposed a town center akin to King of Prussia’s layout.
The property, which included everything but the Macy’s store in the sale, was purchased by Paramount Realty last summer.
The mall includes a 24-screen AMC theater, Boscov’s, and Barnes & Noble. This, paired with an UNO Chicago Grill and On The Border right outside, makes the property perfect for redevelopment.
Plans were initially in place by Fusion Gyms to convert the Macy’s into a fitness center, but they were recently scrapped.
