Levittown Couple Celebrating 80 Years of Marriage Shares Secrets to Success

Jim and Margaret St. Clair, who live in Levittown, recently celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary.

Jim and Margaret St. Clair, a Levittown couple, recently celebrated a momentous milestone: 80 years of marriage, writes Dawn Timmeney for 6abc

They celebrated this milestone with their family on May 21.

Their story begins in a local skating rink where Jim and Margaret met while attending Blairsville High School. The two learned to skate together and quickly became friends.

Jim worked in a local grocery store, and though he met countless people every day, none could compare to Margaret.

When World War II was at its peak, Jim served as a member of the Navy. The couple married when Jim came home on leave and spent the first six months of married life in San Diego at an airbase.

They had three children together and now have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

For them, the secrets to a happy marriage are commitment, cooperation and a healthy dose of humor. The pair holds hands at every opportunity, and Margaret makes Jim breakfast every day.

“You gotta give and take. Give and take. That’s what we do, right? I give and he takes. She was the caboose commander on the runaway train,” the couple said.
