A group of young artists from across Bucks County is raising money for St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital and Lyme Disease awareness with an art show, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
For the month of June, 29 young artists are presenting an art show titled “Painting Hope” at Newtown’s Countryside Gallery.
Each artist contributed their own artwork to the gallery, and three collaborative pieces are part of a silent auction.
“Kids Castle, Doylestown,” one of the collaborative artworks, is up for auction, and the funds will go to St. Jude.
Proceeds from the auction of the two other collaborative pieces, “Camelback Bridge Over the Delaware Canal” and “Limes for Lymes,” will go to the PA Lyme Resource Network.
Those wanting to bid on the art pieces can do so in person or online until June 30. The winners will be announced in early July.
Attendees can also purchase notecards of the artwork on display, with funds going to both organizations.
When playing outside, children are most at risk of Lyme disease. Pennsylvania is the leading state in the country when it comes to cases of Lyme disease. Bucks County has the second-highest number of cases in Pennsylvania.
