New Jersey Sculptor Recognized at New Hope’s 96th Juried Art Show

Milford’s Shawn Campbell will be recognized at the Phillips’ Mill Community Association’s Juried Art Show this September.

The Art Committee for New Hope’s Phillips’ Mill Community Association is recognizing Shawn Campbell at their upcoming Juried Art Show, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The Art Committee honors an artist whose work, efforts and involvement serve as an example of artistic camaraderie and excellence.

Campbell, who’s from Milford, New Jersey, attributed her success to her time working with other members of the Mill.

“The first time I entered the show,” said Campbell, “I didn’t really know what Phillips’ Mill was. A gallery that represented me suggested I submit my work. I soon figured out the show was really prestigious.”

She has since been involved in 35 art exhibitions around the area and won several awards for her sculptures.

“I’ve made such great friends, and I so appreciate the camaraderie and the community at Phillips’ Mill. It has really changed my life,” she said.

Campbell initially began as a painter before transitioning to sculpting, which she now does full-time. Her work ranges from large functional pieces, like salad bowls, to expressive figurative sculptures.

Campbell’s work will be included in this year’s 96th art show, running from September 20 to October 26.
