Local Young Artists Highlight Food Insecurity with New Exhibit in Newtown

Local young artists are hoping to raise awareness about food insecurity with their new exhibit at Countryside Gallery in Newtown.

Local young artists are hoping to raise awareness about food insecurity with their new exhibit, Culinary Art, which is now on display through June 30 at Countryside Gallery in Newtown, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The thirty students ages ten to 17 aim to raise funds for Bucks County Housing Group’s Food Pantries to help with its mission to end hunger. All of the artists have created their paintings that feature food. All 30 works are currently displayed at the gallery.

In addition, the students have come together to create two collaborative paintings to be sold to the highest bidder. For the Garlic & Herbs painting, the students used calming neutral colors, while the Vegetable Medley is bold and vibrant. All 30 students signed both paintings.

The two works will be on display at Countryside Gallery throughout the month of June. People can pick up bidding entry forms in person for the silent auction or place a bid via email.

The students have also created fun and whimsical note cards with their individual paintings with silly puns which are available for sale.
