Raymond B. Reinl, of Furlong, retired longtime attorney, civic leader, and the “grandfather” of local high school ice hockey, died on February 17 at 96, writes Gary Miles for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Reinl, a former ice hockey coach at Archbishop Wood High School, once co-owned the Wintersport Ice Sports Arena in Willow Grove and the Brockville Warriors in the Central Ontario Junior Hockey League. He helped form several local hockey leagues, including the Delaware Valley Hockey League.
After graduating from what is now the University of Pennsylvania’s Carey Law School, Reinl worked as an attorney on mostly civil court cases and practiced in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks counties from 1955 until 2013, when he retired.
Over the decades, he represented several local townships, Lafayette Cemetery in South Philadelphia, and many other clients in all kinds of civil cases.
He chaired the Upper Moreland Zoning Board in the 1960s and later ran for state representative and state senator as a Democrat, though he was not successful.
“He was honest and ethical, and he wanted to help people,” said his daughter Annette.
