D.R. Horton, a national homebuilder, has purchased a 17-acre undeveloped property in Coatesville for $3.1 million, where it plans to build 132 homes, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The map on the Texas-based company’s website currently shows 67 townhomes for the site, but D.R. Horton plans to add another 65 homes as part of the development.
The development, named Summit Village, has already gone through a years-long approval process with the Borough of South Coatesville. The submitted plans include an additional 65 homes to be located on the west side of Birch Street, north of Upper Gap Road, separate of the 17-acre property.
The townhomes will offer 1,500 square feet of space, all featuring three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a one-car garage.
The developer purchased the property from Beacon of South Coatesville.
In 2024, D.R. Horton was the fourth-largest homebuilder in the Philadelphia region, with 451 sold homes averaging $501,808 and 2,597 square feet.
The company also recently built 216 townhomes in Phoenixville as part of its Steelpointe development.
