Make-A-Wish Foundation Grants Wish of Chalfont Teen Recovering from Leukemia With Home Gym

The Make-A-Wish Foundation fulfills a wish for Tyler Lockett, a Chalfont teen recovering from leukemia, by providing him with a home gym.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has fulfilled a wish for Tyler Lockett, a Chalfont teen recovering from leukemia, by providing him with a home gym to help him train and return to playing soccer, writes Aziza Shuler for CBS News Philadelphia.

The 16-year-old returned home from school on Monday afternoon to a surprise in his basement. He was overjoyed to find his own at-home gym, complete with power rack, free weights, and more.

Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley was able to turn his wish into reality thanks to $10,000 in equipment donations from REP Fitness and National Fitness Partners.

Philadelphia Wings players Sam LeClair and Deacan Knott also came to help set everything up.

“I just felt mind-blown,” said Lockett, adding that he couldn’t believe that a Philadelphia sports team was actually at his house.

Lockett was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2024 and spent months undergoing chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in King of Prussia. He persevered by focusing on two things: his family and his determination to play soccer again.

Now in remission, Lockett is working on rebuilding his strength, and the new gym will make it much easier.
