Warminster teen Savannah Zeamon experienced a devastating loss in first grade after losing her Kindergarten teacher to cancer, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6 ABC News.
“Her death was the first that I’d ever experienced,” she said. “And it was really hard for me and so I wanted to do something to kind of prevent people from feeling that way again.”
Savannah decided to run her own lemonade stand every year to raise money in honor of her late teacher.
The now senior at William Tennent High School originally donated the funds to the American Cancer Society but has since focused more on fundraising for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Over the past decade, she raised $32,000.
Her goal this year for the stand, which has now expanded to include baked goods, raffle items, and clothing donations, is to raise $20,000.
This will help Savannah reach a total of $50,000 raised over the past ten years.
Savannah says if she meets this goal, it will be a “full circle” moment, as this is the last lemonade stand, she will run before going off to college to become a teacher.
Donations for the stand can be made through its Facebook page.
