George School Plans Upgrades for Middletown Township Campus

George School, Newtown.

George School recently presented its master plan for multi-decade, widespread campus upgrades to Middletown Township supervisors, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The private Quaker boarding and day school, located on the border of Middletown and Newtown Townships, includes over 20 academic, athletic, and residential buildings.

The school has owned over 200 acres of prime real estate for at least eight decades, which have an estimated market value of over $87.8 million today. However, school administrators have no intention of relocating.

“I’ve been charged with being able to take George School into the next 25 to 50 years,” said Robert Kleimenhagen, director of the physical plant department at George School.

The school will have to present each project in its master plan separately to township officials for approval as they all constitute separate land development projects.

The details of the first project – the Walton Performing Arts Center upgrades – will be presented in the next couple of months.

Among the other planned upgrades are four new single-family homes on the northern part of campus, the full renovations of two academic buildings, and, later on, a total replacement of the Hallowell building, among others projects.
