After Six Successful Seasons, Bensalem Boys Basketball Coach Resigns to Focus on Family

After six successful seasons, including four Suburban One League Patriot Division championships, Bensalem boys basketball coach Ron Morris has resigned.

After six successful seasons, Bensalem boys basketball coach Ron Morris has resigned to focus on family, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.

While Morris truly enjoyed coaching the Owls, the last season left him with very little time to watch his three children play. So after winning four Suburban One League Patriot Division championships and qualifying for the PIAA Class 6A state playoffs three times while compiling an overall record of 96-60, he decided it was time to step down.

“I preach family first and that’s what I’m going to do,” said Morris. “This past year was really tough on me. I always stress to them you’d rather live with sacrifice than live with regret. I have to sacrifice what I love to not regret missing their games.”

Morris’ oldest son, Antonio, played his freshman year at County College of Mercer last season, while his son Noah played at Bucks County Community College. His seventh-grade daughter, Ella, is on the Magic AAU squad.

“I’ll be just a dad going to the games now,” Morris said.
