Kyle Patton, a New Hope resident and Alvernia University finance major, took part in the New York City SEAL Swim this summer and raised more than $2,000 for veterans and Gold Star families who lost family members while serving in the military, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The open swim event benefits the Navy SEAL Foundation, which supports over 30 key programs for active-duty SEALs, veterans, and their families.
Patton decided to join the event to express his appreciation and patriotism.
“Fundraising for this event was an eye-opening experience,” he said. “I was genuinely touched by the generosity of those who supported the cause, and it reinforced my belief in the power of community and shared values.”
In addition to participating in the event, he used the opportunity to tour the New York Stock Exchange and watch CNBC live behind the scenes. He also visited the 9/11 museum.
“This visit deepened my appreciation for the sacrifices made by first responders and all those who worked to rebuild and heal our nation after that dark day,” said Patton.
