Doylestown Township is gearing up for significant commercial enhancements along the busy Route 611 corridor, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.

On Tuesday night, the board of supervisors approved plans for two major projects: a new car wash and the redevelopment of the former Applebee’s site at Barn Plaza.

The first project involves Jim and Susan Lonergan, who plan to revitalize the property at 1796 Easton Road.

They will demolish the existing 13,000-square-foot strip shopping center to make way for a 5,000-square-foot state-of-the-art drive-through car wash.

The facility will offer automated payment and cleaning stations, along with 16 vacuum spots for interior cleaning.

The former Applebee’s site site will be redeveloped to house three new restaurant spaces, including one with drive-through service.

Among the confirmed tenants are First Watch and Honeygrow.

Future phases of the Barn Plaza redevelopment include the demolition of the former Regal Cinema and the construction of four multi-tenant buildings.
