PIAA Championships: Standout Athletes from Bucks County Lead Their Teams to Victory
The PIAA championships kicked off recently with 22 Bucks County area teams participating, with most at the top of their game, writes Melissa Hanejko for the Bucks County Courier Times.
In softball, Brianna Slack from Bristol stood out in a three-inning win over MaST Charter in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs with a lone hit and a single walk while striking out nine and facing two batters over the minimum.
Brady Guzzie from Conwell-Egan gave one of the top playoff performances in baseball. In a win over District 11 champ Bethlehem Catholic in the PIAA Class 4A opening game, the freshman pitcher gave up three hits, three walks, and one earned, while also striking out seven through 4⅓ innings.
