The Pennsbury School District is embarking on an ambitious project to design a new high school, initiating the process with public meetings to involve the community in shaping the future educational facility, writes Tom Sofield for Levittown Now.

The first of these meetings is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, at 6 PM at Pennsbury High School’s East Campus cafeteria, where attendees will meet with KCBA Architects, the firm selected to lead the design.

KCBA Architects will present initial design ideas and project plans during the one-and-a-half-hour session, with Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith emphasizing the importance of community, student, and staff input in the final design.

The firm was chosen by a 6-2 school board vote in March for an $8.8 million contract.

Additionally, a crucial session on Thursday, May 9, at the Fallsington Elementary School auditorium will focus on selecting a construction management firm to oversee the project.

This meeting, too, will welcome public participation and will be recorded for wider accessibility.

The new high school, slated to open in winter 2029, aims to be a modern, sustainable, and safe environment for up to 2,800 students, with estimated costs between $240 million and $275 million.
