Archbishop Wood High School boys’ basketball team has big plans for this season, with goals to clinch the Catholic League crown.

The Archbishop Wood boys basketball team experienced a dramatic turnaround in their season under the guidance of coach John Mosco, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Starting with a challenging 4-6 record, the Vikings faced adversity head-on by competing against teams from seven different states.

This tough early schedule proved to be a crucible that forged their success, as they won 15 of their next 17 games, propelling them into the PIAA Class 6A state semifinals for the fourth consecutive year.

Key to their resurgence were standout seniors Jalil Bethea and Josh Reed.

Reed, in particular, made a pivotal game-winning basket against Archbishop Ryan

Their performance didn’t just stop there; the Vikings also claimed victories against top teams like Lower Merion in the state playoffs, a win punctuated by junior Mike Green’s critical three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

This string of successes was part of a broader pattern of excellence that saw the team tie for first place in the Philadelphia Catholic League regular-season standings.
