Diane Mosco, remembered for her radiant smile and unwavering support, continues to inspire the Archbishop Wood community even after her passing in 2017, writes Isabella DiAmore for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Her husband, John Mosco, the school’s boys’ basketball coach, recalls Diane’s constant presence in the gym, cheering and guiding him and their team.

Despite her demanding job as a nurse and raising two sons, Diane never missed a game.

Her commitment was evident even during her battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a condition affecting blood cell production.

After undergoing chemotherapy, she was there, cheering in the stands, during Wood’s Catholic League championship game against Neumann Goretti in February 2017.

John recalls a pivotal moment during the Catholic League championship when her advice turned the tide of the game, leading to a memorable victory.

Tragically, Diane’s fight with MDS took her to the hospital for a bone marrow transplant, from which she never returned. Yet, her impact remains.

To honor her memory, John Mosco organized the Diane Mosco Classic basketball tournament.

This annual event, now in its sixth edition, not only celebrates Diane’s love for the sport but also raises funds to support students’ education.
