After failing to struggling the Falcons varsity roster, Jackson Kean impressed Pennsbury head coach Phil Kealy with his perseverance.

After struggling to crack the Falcons varsity roster for three years, Jackson Kean impressed Pennsbury head coach Phil Kealy with his perseverance and finally got the opportunity he has worked for so hard as a senior, writes Drew Markol for Bucks County Courier Times.

“That’s the thing with Jackson,” said Kealy. “He’s a very talented wrestler, but every year he had somebody in front of him that was better at his weight class. But he stuck to it, didn’t complain, and just kept working so that when his opportunity came, he would be ready.”

The coach was right. Kean has already managed to eclipse his 20 varsity wins at 160 pounds.

“My first match on varsity, I was kind of nervous,” said Kean. “Once you start wrestling, you just have to concentrate on what you’re trying to do and give everything you have.”

Kean had help from his family, who are “a pretty famous local wrestling family,” said Kealy. “His dad and his dad’s brothers all wrestled in the area and they have many cousins that also wrested and were very successful.”
