Former Archbishop Wood track star Gary Martin continues to break records as a University of Virginia athlete.

Gary Martin, an Archbishop Wood graduate who became the first high schooler in Pennsylvania to run a sub-four-minute mile two years ago, continues to break records at the University of Virginia, according to a staff report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Warminster native set the school mile record last week at the Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston with a time of 3:54.73. That is the second time in the Atlantic Coast Conference as well as the twelfth on the NCAA indoor track.

And this year is proving to be a good one for the UVA sophomore. In January, he opened the indoor season by running 3000 meters in 7:47.49 at the Penn State National, a personal-best time.

Martin is the holder of the fourth-fastest outdoor high school mile in the nation as well as a three-time state record holder in the mile, 3000 meters, and 3200 meters. The track star also ran the third-fastest 800-meter in Pennsylvania history.
