Lauren Greer has numerous notable moments at Archbishop Wood playing basketball, but scoring a game-winning basket in the final seconds of a game against a team ranked by ESPN as 19th in the country tops them all, writes Melissa Hanejko for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The Archbishop Wood senior won three Catholic League soccer championships and has three state titles in basketball, but a regular season tournament game in Wilmington, Delaware overshadowed it all.

“It was such a special moment,” she said. “I’ve never experienced anything like that before.”

The basket she scored ensured a 46-44 victory for the Vikings against McDonogh.

“The entire gym went crazy,” said Greer. “I don’t always score a lot, and I never expected I’d ever hit a buzzer-beater.”

And while she is not a leading scorer, the 5-foot-6 guard does pace the Vikings in nearly every other category.

She leads the team in rebounds, assists, and steals. She also defends the opposing team’s top players and contributes an average of seven points per game.

But as exciting as her latest achievement is, there is something Greer believes can surpass it.

“I want that fourth title – I want us to make history,” she said.
