Jennifer Schorn, a 25-year Bucks County prosecutor, is getting a long-awaited promotion, writes Vinny Vella for The Philadelphia Inquirer.  

She will be succeeding Matt Weintraub, to whom she was the former first assistant. Schorn will be finishing the rest of his term, as Weintraub was recently elected as the county judge in November.  

Schorn, an Upper Southampton native, says she aims to focus on protecting the children and elderly.  

She holds a degree from Widener University Law School and served as the assistant district attorney to Bucks County in 1999 following an internship in Delaware County’s District Attorney office.  

Her notability stems from taking on several high-profile cases against child predators. Schron is also known for reviving cold cases across the county, including the 1991 killing of Joy Hibbs.  

Her track record has earned Schorn the reputation of being called a “protector of children,” by former Bucks County prosecutor Chelsea Jackman.  

“As a prosecutor, she is the total package,” Weintraub said. “Mercy and redemption for most, and that special place for those who truly deserve it.”
