Dante Weise, a George School graduate and promising freshman at The College of Saint Rose, is facing a significant shift in his college basketball career, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Initially expecting to spend all four years at the Albany campus, Weise’s plans were disrupted when the school announced its closure due to financial difficulties and declining enrollment.

Despite this setback, Weise has shown remarkable prowess on the court. The 6-foot-1 point guard, a graduate of George School, quickly made his mark by earning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors on November 26.

Even as Saint Rose prepares to shut its doors, Weise continues to excel in his freshman year. He has started the last nine games, averaging 7.7 points, leading the team in assists, steals, and minutes, and boasting an .875 foul shooting percentage.

The news of the college’s closure has been tough on Weise and his teammates, but he remains focused on the future. Regularly consulting with his former George School head coach Ben Luber, Weise is exploring options for transferring to another institution where he can continue his basketball and academic journey.
